We started by painting and decorating hundreds of shoes.
Then we created a path for all the shoes.
Slowly, we took steps towards the door of peace.
Soon we will have stories on the otherside of this door.
Beginning in October, 2003, I spent time with several hundred children, finding shoes, painting shoes, decorating shoes and finally installing the shoes on a stairwell. The shoes represent the steps that we all need to takes towards peace. At the end of the road , in this case, there is a door that when opened shows the students concepts of peace - poetry,pictures, stories.
